WHY THE LAND AT DATCHET IS IDEAL
In fact the land at Datchet is an accident. It is a piece of land that is trapped between the village and the motorway when the motorway was built. It had to have some form of designation applied to it when the Local Plan was being made, so it was called "Green Belt" for lack of any other description.
- It has the potential to provide essential housing
- It does not provide a "strategic gap" as it butts up to the motorway
- It does not provide "openness" as the only view is of the motorway
- It provides no protection as the motorway has a direct line of sight and sound to the houses of Datchet
- It provides no public footpaths and it is not an amenity area
